Standards and measurement science provide the common language that allows innovation to scale safely. In sequence screening and biosecurity, shared technical foundations are essential for interoperability, trust, and effective risk management across borders.

Dr. Lin-Gibson leads a multidisciplinary team advancing measurement science and standardization for emerging biotechnology and advanced biomanufacturing. Her Division develops robust measurement methods, reference materials, and data standards that ensure the quality, safety, and integrity of biotechnology and biomanufacturing, supporting synthetic biology, advanced therapies, precision medicine, and complex microbial systems, as well as foundational capabilities that strengthen biosafety and biosecurity. Dr. Lin-Gibson also plays a pivotal role in enabling the convergence of biotechnology and artificial intelligence (Bio+AI), championing high-quality biological data and trustworthy analytical frameworks that accelerate innovation.

Recognized for her leadership in international standardization, she chairs the ISO/TC 276: Biotechnology, SC1: Analytical Methods and has contributed to numerous international standards. She has co-authored more than 120 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Lin-Gibson has been widely recognized for her contributions to biotechnology standardization and measurement assurance, earning three Department of Commerce Gold Medals and a Gear of the Government Award.
