IBBIS is an international organization with the mission of safeguarding modern bioscience and biotechnology so it can advance and flourish safely and responsibly. We work with global partners to strengthen biosecurity norms and develop innovative tools to uphold them.
Our current work focuses on screening synthetic DNA, including the Common Mechanism, an open-source DNA screening tool; standard processes for screening DNA customers; the Global DNA Synthesis Map showing where DNA is produced and how it is governed; an evaluation portal for voluntary testing of screening performance; and two international consortia developing screening standards. Beyond synthesis screening, we offer managed access for sensitive biological datasets and convene policymakers around the world to develop governance for emerging biotechnology.
Many of our tools have now moved beyond the prototype phase; but making these resources available is not enough. Getting them adopted widely enough to actually reduce global biosecurity risk is the next challenge, and that’s what this role is about.
Our partnerships and adoption lead will help synthesis providers, AI-bio companies, and software platforms integrate sequence screening and customer screening.
This isn’t a traditional DevRel or sales position. IBBIS’s tools are free and open-source. Our goal is to urgently increase the share of synthesis orders that are screened according to global best practices, building on new regulatory requirements and customer expectations. Your challenge is to make the case for screening, help organizations prioritize implementation amidst competing demands, make the onboarding experience smooth, and build relationships that bring new stakeholders into standards processes.
If you’ve lived through the adoption curve for a software tool, open standard, or safety technology, you’ll recognize the problem. We’re past the early adopters. The early majority is interested but needs more hand-holding, clearer value propositions, and less friction. That’s your job.
You build relationships that motivate people to act on what they already know they should do. You’re good at cold outreach, and even better at follow-through: understanding what’s blocking adoption, removing obstacles, and making yourself so useful and trustworthy that you naturally build long-term partnerships.
You don’t need to be a bioinformatician, but you should be comfortable talking to technical staff about integration requirements and able to learn enough about screening to explain it clearly. You’ll work closely with our Technical Lead and engineering team for anything that requires deep technical expertise.

We offer a referral bonus of 1000 CHF to individuals who refer successful candidates to IBBIS. If you refer a candidate that we invite to a full structured interview, you will receive 250 CHF. If a candidate receives a job offer from us, you will receive a further 750 CHF, for a total of 1000.
To refer a candidate, email hr@ibbis.bio with their name and a short line on why this candidate would be perfect for this role.
These bonuses are available only if we reasonably believe you were responsible for referring the candidate to us (e.g. facilitating a direct introduction to a candidate we were unfamiliar with, a candidate mentioning you on their application as the reason they heard about the position).
