IBBIS at Biosecurity Innovation and Risk Reduction Initiative Annual Meeting
IBBIS Executive Director Dr. Piers Millett provided a progress update to the annual meeting of the Biosecurity Innovation and Risk Reduction Initiative (BIRRI). This event, hosted by the Nuclear Threat Initiative’s Global Biological Policy and Programs team (NTI | bio) in Cambridge, UK from May 31 to June 2, brought together thought leaders from public and private sectors to address the urgent need to reduce emerging biological risks associated with rapid technology advances.

Dr. Millett provided an update on efforts to launch IBBIS as well as efforts to introduce the organization to key forums, including the Biological Weapons Convention, Carnegie India’s Global Technology Summit, the Munich Security Conference, the Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction, and SynBioBeta, the global synthetic biology conference.

Dr. Millett and NTI | bio Vice President Dr. Jaime Yassif led a discussion on how IBBIS and could work together in the future to strengthen global biosecurity.
