IBBIS has released three new resources alongside the Global DNA Synthesis Map.

The 2026 Report is a written analysis of what the map’s data reveals across the global synthesis landscape.

Its key findings point out that no country in the world currently mandates sequence screening in domestic law, screening commitments remain concentrated among a small subset of predominantly Western providers, and third-party vendors, through which most researchers in emerging markets access synthetic DNA are almost entirely unaddressed by existing policy frameworks.

The report covers provider distribution, screening practices, regional industry profiles, and policy gaps across seven world regions, and closes with recommendations for governments, the synthesis industry, and the biosecurity research community.

The Country Pages bring together provider data, policy frameworks, and key country-level indicators in one place, with regional and global comparisons that give context to each country’s position in the synthetic DNA landscape.

A Tiered Data Access Portal is now available for stakeholders who need to work directly with the underlying data. Access to company-level, regional, and global information is subject to review and approval.

Policymakers, researchers, and biosecurity professionals are encouraged to explore the resources and to reach out if there is data or context that could strengthen the map further.

About the Map

The Global DNA Synthesis Map, launched by IBBIS in December 2025, is the first resource of its kind to consolidate information on where synthetic DNA is produced, how providers screen their orders, and what regulations apply. The map now covers more than 1,000 providers across 80+ countries, with national policy mapping for over 60 countries.
