True biosecurity is built through collaboration and inclusion, said Sacha Wallace. The Caribbean’s experience shows that even small nations can have a big impact when they share knowledge, strengthen systems, and commit to common standards for safety and trust.
Sacha Wallace is a dedicated public health specialist and biosafety advocate with extensive experience strengthening laboratory systems, biosafety practices, and public health preparedness across the Caribbean. As an active member of the Caribbean Society for Biosafety and Biosecurity (CSBB), she works to advance regional cooperation, training, and capacity-building in the safe and responsible use of biotechnology and infectious disease management.
Her work bridges public health, laboratory biosafety, and policy development, helping Caribbean institutions enhance resilience to emerging biological risks while fostering collaboration between national authorities, research institutions, and international partners.
Within the IBBIS Technical Consortium, Sacha contributes a vital regional and practical perspective, ensuring that the development of DNA synthesis screening standards reflects the realities of small and mid-sized institutions, and supports inclusive participation from underrepresented regions.
