As DNA synthesis becomes more automated, computational, and powerful, our responsibility is to embed security directly into the data pipelines that make it possible. Standards give us the blueprint to do that consistently, across companies and across borders.
Wladimir Labeikovsky is the Co-Founder and Head of Data Operations at Ribbon Bio, where he leads the computationa dn data infrastructure teams that help enable the company’s high-complexity synthetic DNA assembly platform. Trained as a biochemist and computational scientist, he holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Brandeis University and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University. His background spans protein biochemistry, molecular biophysics, and informatics, including prior work applying machine-learning and NLP tools to biomedical datasets.
At Ribbon Bio, Wladimir helps operationalize cutting-edge DNA construct manufacturing through algorithm-driven design, automated workflows, and rigorous data-quality management, experience that directly informs global conversations on secure, standardized synthesis. He is also a co-author of the 2024 Science|Business op-ed calling for strong, clear screening requirements under the EU Biotech Act.
