Second IBBIS Foundation Council Meeting
On the 23 September 2024, the IBBIS Foundation Council met in Washington DC, USA for its second meeting in 2024. This was the first gathering of IBBIS’ expanded board which now includes members from North America, Europe, and Asia. The Foundation Council elected a new Chair, Margaret (Peggy) Hamburg.
The meeting heard on update on IBBIS activities from Executive Director, Piers Millett. Dr. Millett provided progress in establishing IBBIS’ operational arrangements, an overview of current efforts to promulgate the Common Mechanism for DNA Synthesis Screening, as well as efforts to strengthen relevant norm building and policy needs.
The Foundation Council reviewed IBBIS’ mission and vision and started substantive consideration of strategic priorities, financial decisions, and the depth and breadth of international engagement desirable from the organisation.
